An animal that dies in a wall void, attic, or crawlspace announces itself within a day or two. The odor is the obvious problem; the secondary one is what the carcass attracts, because flies and carrion beetles follow, and their numbers inside a house track exactly where the animal lies. Fluids can also stain through drywall and subfloor if the carcass sits, which turns a removal job into a repair job. This is a call I treat as prompt-response work.

Sometimes it means opening a small section of drywall, and when it does, I make the smallest cut that gets the job done and tell you before I cut. Once the animal is out, contaminated material around it is removed, the area is treated with an enzyme deodorizer, and the carcass leaves with me for proper disposal.
