Wildlife management,
done with precision.

Professional lethal control for golf courses, neighborhoods, airports, and farms. Quiet. Targeted. Documented.

What is a WCA

A licensed authority for real wildlife problems.

A Wildlife Control Agent is licensed by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The credential authorizes the holder to investigate wildlife damage on private property, issue state depredation permits, and conduct lethal control of nuisance species under those permits.

It is a credentialed professional path that is distinct from pest control and from informal handling. Property owners, golf course managers, HOA boards, farmers, and airport managers facing wildlife damage have a direct route to professional assessment and resolution. Some species require additional state or federal coordination, which CPWC handles directly on the client's behalf.

Carolina Precision Wildlife Control operates under WCA authority across North Carolina. Federal permits are coordinated where required for protected species.

The Method

The precision air rifle advantage.

When most people picture an air rifle, they think of the spring-piston pellet guns at sporting goods stores. The platform we use is something else entirely.

It is a high-pressure pre-charged pneumatic precision rifle, built in Sweden, configured with a slug-capable barrel and tuned for clean professional work at safe distances. The capability gap between this and a Gamo at Walmart is roughly the same as the gap between a Cessna 172 and an F-22 Raptor.

Both are technically airplanes, but one is a lazy Sunday afternoon with friends and the other is a finely tuned machine capable of defying the expectations of what an airplane can do. The same is true here. The platform I work with is built for precision, distance, and humane performance, engineered for the kind of work most people don't realize an air rifle can do.

i.
Quiet Operation
The shot itself sounds more like a muffled, gloved hand clap than a rifle report. Audible up close, easily lost and not noticed across a property.
ii.
Targeted & Selective
Each shot is deliberate and aimed. No poison residue, no indiscriminate trapping, no risk to pets, livestock, or unintended species. The animal taken is the animal intended.
iii.
Discreet & Professional
Work is conducted with backstop discipline, written client permission, and full documentation. Suitable for sensitive commercial properties and well-managed neighborhoods.
iv.
Effective at Distance
High-power slug platforms deliver the energy needed for clean dispatch on geese, beaver, and feral hogs at the working distances depredation control requires.

Founder & Operator

Carl Patterson

Wildlife Control Agent · Carolina Precision Wildlife Control

Carolina Precision Wildlife Control is a single-operator practice based in Stony Point, North Carolina. The work is mine. Every site assessment, every permit, every visit.

My background is in mechanical engineering, where I specialize in industrial automation and material handling systems. That training shapes how I approach this work: assess the situation, identify what is actually causing the problem, apply the right tool with appropriate rigor, and document the outcome. Wildlife depredation is a technical problem and it deserves a technical operator.

I am also a private pilot. Flying demands the kind of discipline that translates directly to this work: think ahead, manage resources under pressure, follow procedures, accept that the consequences of carelessness are not theoretical. It also gives me a working understanding of general aviation operations and the regulatory environment around airports, which matters when those become clients.

The why behind this work is straightforward. I grew up in rural Virginia and now raise poultry on our property in the foothills of western North Carolina. I understand wildlife from both sides of the fence: as something to respect, and as something that occasionally needs to be managed when it begins to cause real damage. Property owners facing wildlife problems often have limited good options. Pest control companies are not equipped for serious depredation work. Government agencies are slow and frequently unavailable. I started Carolina Precision Wildlife Control to give property owners a credentialed professional who shows up, does the work cleanly, and follows through.

The approach is straightforward: clean shooting, complete documentation, honest expectation-setting, and consistent follow-through. Wildlife management is not a one-time fix. It is a managed steady state, and the operators who deliver it well are the ones who show up reliably and tell the truth about what is and is not possible.

If you have a wildlife problem on a property you manage or own, I would welcome a conversation about it.
